You slept. You took the holiday. Within a week you were exactly where you started.
If that sentence lands, this is for you.
Most of what gets called burnout, or chronic stress, or “I just need a break,” is sitting on top of something older and quieter that almost no one names: a life that has stopped fitting the person living it.
This is the anchor piece of everything I write here. It defines chronic overload properly, separates it from chronic stress and allostatic load (the alarm, and the bill), and shows the three conditions that decide whether any load is sustainable or not. This is the map the rest of the work is drawn on.
For now, this is a slide deck. I’m turning it into a full lecture over the next couple of weeks, and it will land here when it’s ready — but the complete argument is already in the deck, so there’s no need to wait.
